Default Triple Chop and Hundred Blades Question

The AoE range for [triple chop] and [hundred blades] are the same right? Both being adjacent to the target foe and thus a smaller range compared to [cyclone axe] which is adjacent to you? Am I correct? Thanks in advance.

Not quite. See, hundred blades and triple chop hit people adjacent to your target, while cyclone axe hits people adjacent to you. Basically, HB and TC create a sort of cone of damage outward from you, while cyclone axe hits everybody 360 degrees around you.

Put another way, the effects of the skills have the same range, the range just originates from different points (TC/HB adjacent to target, Cyclone adjacent to you.)

Exactly. Thanks. Though doesn't adjacent to you have a greater radius than adjacent to target? You can tell that this is true by looking at the AoE test range on Isle of the Nameless (adjacent to target means right next to target, while adjacent to you means melee range from you which is farther than right next to you). Right?

No, actually "adjacent to target" would have a little greater range since the target is at arm/weapon's length from you. A difference of a couple of feet, so not much, though.

Actually, I believe Triple Chop and Cyclone Axe have the same range. Because Triple Chop stated that "target foe and adjacent foes", rather than "target foe and foes adjacent to your target", which is what Hundred Blades stated. And you are correct that Cyclone and Triple Chop have a better range compare to Hundred Blades.

Are you sure? Because Triple Chop and Hundred Blades' concise skill description say the same thing (hundred blades' concise skill description also says target and adjacent foes). And also, what's the point of designation a target if that target is within adjacent range anyways? If a skill designates a target and than says a range, doesn't it automatically mean that range around the target? For example: [fireball], which I'm pretty sure that the radius is centered around the target.

correct. hundred blades is the only skill of this type with the odd "adjacent to your target" part. everything else like this (whirlwind, earth shaker, ect.) hit adjacent to you.

This is what it says for [earth shaker] on Guild Wiki: "The radius of the knockdown is centred around the target, making it 'adjacent to foe', which is somewhat smaller than adjacent."

Another reason to not use concise skill description. I'm pretty sure, I remember that's one of the reason that people were turn off of at Hundred Blades. It has a target so you can't just use it like Cyclone Axe, as to why, maybe so you can't miss your target like you sometime do with Cyclone if your target kite.

No, it doesn't. You are correct that the radius is centered around the target for Fireball, but that because it's a projectile, not a melee attack.

Well, I've used Earth Shaker build a lot, and it usually KD all that around me, as in behind me too. Once in a while there are one or two that isn't KD, but that's probably because they are just out of adjacent range. I wouldn't trust everything the wiki says.

Thanks, your explainations have been very helpful. Grrrrr, now that I've confirmed how sucky hundred blades is, there aren't any more good elite skills for a sword warrior like me since I only have Prophecies and EotN,

Hundred Blades works like scythes. Won't hit targets adjacent to you, but targets adjacent each other, so, most of the time, a couple more enemies right in front of you and next to the target you actually hit.
